Product overview

This passive Q-switch foil supports typical pulse widths of 10–15 ns and short-pulse, high-peak-power operation in a compact, lightweight format without requiring an external driver or power supply.

This type of passive Q-switch foil was previously supplied by companies such as Kodak and used in various earlier Nd:YAG laser systems. As it has become increasingly difficult to source, it is particularly relevant for the replacement, repair, and maintenance of legacy laser equipment.

Configurations

Foil-only

Supplied as a single dye acetate Q-switch foil for applications requiring a foil-only configuration.

Sandwich construction

The dye acetate foil is mounted between two SCHOTT N-FK5 glass substrates.

  • Can be a more suitable option for higher-repetition-rate or higher-power laser applications
  • Greater overall thickness than foil-only supply
  • Higher cost than foil-only supply
